The ANU Japanese Studies Program offers students a range of courses on the historical, political, and cultural forces that have helped to shape contemporary Japan. Students in the program have various opportunities to spend time studying at one of the ANU’s partner universities in Japan. Competitive scholarships are available for in-country studies to qualified students as well as self-funded learning abroad opportunities.

Japanese Linguistics Major and Minor
Japanese linguistics study provides students with a solid foundation upon which to develop their interests in the Japanese language, its use and its structure. Knowledge of the Japanese language is required for some but not all courses in the Japanese linguistics study.
