On Wednesday 20 March 2024, we celebrated the graduation of 25 students from the Bachelor of Asia Pacific Affairs (BAPA). This is a unique undergraduate dual degree program between the College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University and the College of Global Liberal Arts at Ritsumeikan University. Celebrations took place at Ritsumeikan’s Osaka Ibaraki Campus, with speeches from Julien Barbara, the School Director of the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs, and Ichiro Maekawa, Dean of the College of Global Liberal Arts.

BAPA commenced in 2019 and is the first program of its kind between an Australian and Japanese institution, reflecting the ongoing deepening of ties between the two countries. With the program, students spend time studying at both ANU’s Canberra campus and Ritsumeikan’s Osaka Ibaraki campus, and on successfully completing, receive degrees from both universities. Check here for more information about the program.
