ANU PHD Opportunity on Japan's Economy Academic Year 2010

PhD Scholarship for an Australian student to work on the economy of Japan or topic related to Australia-Japan economic relations. Applications open now.

The Australia-Japan Research Centre (AJRC) at the ANU will offer a scholarship for a domestic student to work towards a PhD in Economics on a topic related to the Japanese economy or related to some aspect of Australia-Japan relations. The scholarship will provide a stipend equivalent to an ANU PhD scholarship for an initial period of 3 years. The scholarship has been financially supported by the Australia-Japan Business Cooperation Committee and will be known as the ANU AJBCC Scholarship. Applicants should apply as soon as possible online (http://studyat.anu.edu.au/graduate_research.html ) for admission to the PhD program at the Crawford School of Economics and Government indicating their interest in the PhD in Economics and should state their interest in a topic relating to Japan. The PhD program commences in February 2010, and the deadline for applications is 30 November 2009. Applicants should indicate that they wish to be considered for all available ANU PhD scholarships in the online form and should also email their interest to Professor Jenny Corbett, Executive Director of the AJRC (jenny.corbett@anu.edu.au).

The Australia-Japan Research Centre (AJRC) conducts research to explore and improve understanding of the economies and economic policy processes in Australia and Japan and both countries' strategic interests in the Asia Pacific economy. Its policy-oriented areas of interest cover developments in regional economic cooperation and integration and encompass research on trade, finance, macroeconomics and structural and regulatory reform, as well as international economic relations. The scholarship provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to be involved in a new project at AJRC on a comprehensive study of the Japanese economy.
